American Women in World War I

American Women in World War I

American Women in World War I
Presented by Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)

This looks at the shifting traditional roles of American women in the early 20th century, highlighting women's vital part in winning World War I. We will discuss the Gilded Age expectations of gender and trace how the New Woman emerged from a progressive era prior to America's entry into the war in Europe. During the Great War, we will focus on the essential contributions of American women on the home front and foreign battlefields, culminating in a legacy of political and cultural change.
