Organist Gavan McVey will perform on the magnificent Schantz organ, an 18-petal, 21-rank instrument custom built for Siesta Key Chapel by the largest and oldest continuously operating organ builder in the U.S.
This concert is free and open to the public.
Gavan is a senior organ performance major at the University of Florida and a recipient of the Friends of Music Scholarship. He worked as organist for three and a half years at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Palatka, FL and currently serves as the organist at First United Methodist Church of Gainesville. Gavan stays active in the Gainesville chapter of the American Guild of Organists, giving concerts at various churches near the University of Florida. When Gavan is off the bench, he is on his bike, serving as vice president of the UF Cycling Club. After graduating from the University of Florida, Gavan’s career aspirations include pursuing higher education and ultimately teaching at the collegiate level.
