Big Cat Habitat Welcomes New Resident

Big Cat Habitat Conservation and Education Center is now home to a new animal resident, a female cheetah named Zuri, as part of its new conservation program whose goal is to help protect vulnerable species. Zuri is the Habitat’s first cheetah.

Known for their incredible speed and striking appearance, "Cheetahs are facing numerous threats in the wild, including habitat loss and poaching," said Clayton Rosaire, COO of Big Cat Habitat. By welcoming animals like Zuri, the goal is to raise awareness about vulnerable and endangered species and inspire the community to take action in support of wildlife conservation.

“Zuri’s addition to our family underscores our commitment to wildlife preservation and education,” Rosaire said. “Cheetahs are not only fascinating animals but also critical to maintaining the balance of their natural ecosystems. Zuri is a wonderful addition to our Conservation Program, and as an ambassador to her species she will help educate guests about species preservation and cheetahs’ importance in the wild. We are thrilled to have her here and feel privileged to care for her.”

Visitors to Big Cat Habitat have the opportunity to learn more about cheetahs, their behavior, and the challenges they face in the wild. Educational programs and special events are being planned to highlight the Habitat’s conservation work and provide insights into how everyone can contribute to wildlife protection. “We invite the community to join us in support of our mission by visiting the zoo, participating in our programs, and contributing to our conservation initiatives,” Rosaire said. “Together, we can make a difference for cheetahs and more endangered species.”
